Hello, tansi, shé:kon! I am an academic, teacher and journalist currently based in Tkaronto (Toronto), located on the traditional territory of many Indigenous nations, including the Haudenosaunee Confederacy.
Like many Indigenous peoples, I live in many different worlds. Culturally, I am a member of the Misipawistik Cree Nation on my father’s side and Mohawk from Six Nations of the Grand River on my mother’s side. I am also part Scottish and Norwegian.
In my working life, I have worked primarily as an investigative TV journalist at the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation on the flagship programs The Fifth Estate and Marketplace. Since 2018, I have added teaching to my skill set, first as an Ontario certified intermediate and secondary English and history teacher, then later as a post-secondary teaching assistant and co-instructor in both journalism and education studies.
